Autocycle License Plates Guide


An autocycle is a three-wheeled vehicle that has a steering wheel and seating that does not require the driver to straddle or sit astride it. This type of vehicle may be operated on Illinois roadways when correctly titled and registered with the Secretary of State. The operator of the vehicle must have a valid Illinois driver's license to legally operate the vehicle.
Fees
Random-Number License Plates Fees- Newly acquired vehicle/first-time issuance - $226 ($155 title fee + $71 registration fee)
- Currently titled vehicle/first-time issuance - $71 ($71 Registration fee)
- Current plates expire within 90 days - $97 ($71 registration fee + $26 replacement fee)
- Current plates do not expire within 90 days - $26 ($26 replacement fee)
- Annual renewal - $71 ($71 Registration fee)
Vanity License Plates
- Newly acquired vehicle/first-time issuance - $276 ($155 title fee + $71 registration fee + $50 vanity fee)
- Currently titled vehicle/first-time issuance - $121 ($71 registration fee + $50 vanity fee)
- Current plates expire within 90 days - $147 ($71 registration fee + $50 vanity fee + $26 replacement fee)
- Current plates do not expire within 90 days - $76 ($50 vanity fee + $26 replacement fee)
- Annual renewal - $84 ($71 registration fee + $13 vanity fee)
Personalized License Plates
- Newly acquired vehicle/first-time issuance - $251 ($155 title fee + $71 registration fee + $25 personalized fee)
- Currently titled vehicle/first-time issuance - $96 ($71 registration fee + $25 personalized fee)
- Current plates expire within 90 days - $122 ($71 registration fee + $25 personalized fee + $26 replacement fee)
- Current plates do not expire within 90 days - $51 ($25 personalized fee + $26 replacement fee)
- Annual renewal - $78 ($71 registration fee + $7 personalized fee)
