Tips For Using The Corporation/LLC Search

File Number is the BEST FORM OF SEARCH for a direct hit.

(1) Use the FILE NUMBER of the Corporation/LLC

• Click By File Number under the Search Method
• Enter File Number in Search field
• This is an 8 digit file number
• Example: 12345678

(2) Do you know the Corporation/LLC Name?

• Click By Name under the Search Method

     1. This is an exact search from the begining of the name.
     2. Only enter as much of the name that would make this search unique.
• Example: PIZZA HUT OF SPRINGFIELD, INC.
• First, try typing: PIZZA HUT OF SP

     1. If the result is too large, you will need to enter more of the name.
     2. This increases the chances of finding the Company.
• NOTE: Once you get your result screen and find the Corporation/LLC you are looking for, click on the name to get more detailed information.
  
  If you DID NOT FIND THE NAME try adjusting your search.

(3) Do you KNOW ONLY ONE WORD within the name?

• Click By Key Word option under the Search Method

• Type that ONE WORD that you remember.

• Example: Raymond's Manufacturing Company

     1. Try using the single word Raymond
• NOTE: Once you get your result screen and find the Corporation/LLC you are looking for, click on the name to get more detailed information.
  
  If you DID NOT FIND THE NAME try adjusting your search.

HINT: When using KEY WORD this is a SINGLE WORD SEARCH, and will find the single word that you enter, anywhere in the name, even if it is JUST a part of the name entered.

(4) Do you KNOW ONLY THE BEGINNING OF A WORD within the name?

• Click By Partial Word option under the Search Method

• Type that PARTIAL WORD that you remember.

• Example: AL-RAY TRUCK SERVICE, INC.

     1. Try using the partial word Ray
• NOTE: Once you get your result screen and find the Corporation/LLC you are looking for, click on the name to get more detailed information.
  
  If you DID NOT FIND THE NAME try adjusting your search.

HINT: When using PARTIAL WORD this is a PARTIAL WORD SEARCH, and will find the beginning of a word that you enter, within the name, even if it is JUST a part of the name entered.

(5) Too many names to search through?

• You entered TOO LITTLE or entered a KEY WORD search

• Example: PIZZA (this is a key word search)

     1. You will find the word PIZZA no matter where it resides within any Corporation Name.
• Try a different word or narrow your search using the BY NAME option
• Adding a second word of the corporation
• Example: Lazarus' Coffee and Pizza Co.
• Type: Lazarus' Coffee

(6) Name not found?

• You may have entered too much.


     1. Entering less of the name gives more to choose from
• Try typing only a portion of the word you are searching for
• Example: PAT WATSONS CHOCOLATES
• Type only 3 or 4 letters or part of the name
• Enter PAT or PAT WATSONS
