Entering
Search Criteria
Enter text in any field to restrict the search to only those
records which CONTAIN your text in that field. Searches are
not case sensitive: you may use any combination of upper and lower
case letters. The following types of searches may be conducted:
- To locate a
soldier, enter the name in the format: last name comma space first name space middle initial
(for example, Smith, John D). The first name and middle initial
may be omitted to accomplish a surname search.
- To locate all
soldiers in a particular unit, select the unit designation from
the drop-down menu in the "Regiment" field.
- To locate
all soldiers in a particular company, select the company's letter
from the drop-down menu in the "Company" field and the
unit designation from the drop-down menu in the "Unit"
field. For example, to return a list of soldiers in Company G of
the 10th Missouri Infantry, select G
in the "Company" field and
10th Missouri Infantry in the "Regiment" field.
- To search for all
soldiers whose residence is given as a county, township or city,
enter the name of the county, township or city in the
"Residence" field.
Click the "Submit Query"
button after you have typed your search term or terms. Click the
"Reset" button to remove all search terms. Only the
"Company" and "Regiment" fields may be
combined in a single search. Any other field combinations will not
be valid searches.
